Four days after DV Sadananda Gowda took oath as Karnataka chief minister, succeeding scam hit BS Yeddyurappa, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ministry in the state was expanded on Monday (08-Aug-2011) evening with the induction of 21 members.
It was raining the day BS Yeddyurappa walked to the Karnataka Raj Bhawan to submit his resignation. That set in motion fast-paced political developments, drama and dissidence that culminated in the swearing in of 21 Cabinet ministers today (08-Aug-2011). It rained again.
Karnataka Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda expanded his five—day—old ministry inducting 21 with Cabinet rank but left out the mining magnates Reddy brothers and their close associate Sreeramulu.
Also not included in Monday's list are Vijayshankar, forest minister in the Yeddyurappa ministry, and Mumtaz Ali Khan, Waqf minister in the previous ministry.
Out of 21 ministers, 12 are from the Yeddyurappa camp and nine from Jagadish Shettar faction.
Some more entries are likely to be made into the ministry over the next few days, BJP sources said.
