Superstar Rajinikanth, admitted to a private hospital in Chennai for a recurrent respiratory infection and gastrointestinal problems, is progressing well.

Earlier in the day, the hospital had said that the actor would remain in intensive are for further monitoring till he is "well stabilised in all health parameters".

Superstar Rajinikanth, admitted to the Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre, has been shifted to the normal ward, as tweeted by the superstar's son-in-law, Dhanush.

Dhanush tweets, "Heyyyyyy guyssssss,Superstar is shifted from ICU to normal room :) :) :) :) now beat this news ! All rumor spreaders can go 2 hell.god bless."

Then, another tweet: "Happiest day of my life !! Yayyyyyyyyyy :) nyone has any doubts u r free 2 investigate SRMC hosp. COME ON ( war cry ) god bless.

This is the third time in recent weeks that Rajnikanth has been admitted to a hospital.

He had fallen ill on April 29 after launching his new venture "Rana" and was admitted to St Isabel's Hospital in the city. He was discharged in the evening on the same day, but was re-admitted after a week.
