The film will start rolling from April 20th, 2011. According to sources in Kollywood, KS Ravi Kumar intends to commence this film on the said date and then fly off to a foreign country to shoot the song sequence with the lead pair.

Speaking to reporters in Chennai, director KSR said, "Rana has story by the Superstar himself and it is based ion a historical event that occurred in 17th century. It features him in triple role."

The expectations for Rana are skyrocketing because it is Rajini’s next after the astounding success of Endhiran. Sources close to the Rana team say that the film’s Muhurat will be held at the Ganesh Temple inside the AVM Studios.

One of the latest developments related to the film is that Superstar Rajini is experimenting with his look for the roles in this historic period film. He's now seen growing a moustache and a partial French beard. Meanwhile, a photoshoot with Rajini and Deepika sporting different looks was completed by the team.

Deepika is super excited

Deepika Padukone, whose character in Rajinikanth’s Rana is at par with the Superstar, is literally burning midnight oil to get into the skin of her role before she starts shooting.

The starlet is undergoing training in Vajra Mukti, a traditional martial art form. She’s also expected to learn Sanskrit while she’s completing her month-long London schedule of Desi Boyz with John Abraham and Akshay Kumar. The Om Shanti Om star, supposedly, does her homework for Rana after packing up everyday.

Deepika says, "There are some intense action scenes. I’m preparing my body first for the month-long martial art training. I have dealt with fight scenes before, but this time it’s something totally unimaginable."

Early this year, it was reported that Deepika was in a dilemma to sign the movie due to an issue with dates; however, the actress has chosen this big-flick to make her grand entry into Kollywood.

Sources say that the actress expressed a great deal of enthusiasm about the project and claimed that her long-term dream of acting with the Superstar has finally coming true.

Deepika’s part will be shot across 100 days in six months, keeping her date diary in mind.
