After Bollywood's hottie celebs Minissha Lamba and Bipasha Basu, it is Mallika Sherawat's brother Vikram who seems to be least bothered about abiding by the laws.
Vikram Lamba, elder brother of Mallika Sherawat was held at the Mumbai International Airport. Apparently, he had in his possession, foreign currency that exceeded legally permissible limits and had also failed to declare and pay the duty for some of the goods he had bought abroad.
Deputy Commissioner, Customs, Mr. Sameer Wankhede and his team have booked him under the Foreign Exchange Management Act and have taken him in for interrogation. The foreign currency and goods in question have been confiscated for valuation.
Vikram Lamba landed at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Terminal at 9.30 am and was detained by customs officials when he was passing through the green channel on arrival by an Emirates flight from London via Dubai.
The questioning and recording of his statements by custom officials lasted till 10.30 pm. Lamba is likely to be summoned for further questioning on Wednesday (08-June-2011).
The currency and the dutiable goods have been confiscated from Lamba and a decision regarding the action against Lamba would be taken later, an official said.
Earlier, Minissha Lamba was detained at the airport after undeclared jewellery was allegedly found in her possession when she was returning from Cannes. Later, Bipasha Basu was detained and let off after she paid a penalty of Rs 13,000 for carrying undeclared accessories and cosmetics.
